I have written a book aimed at primary school teachers and senior leadership teams, called, “Igniting a Passion for Learning in the Primary School.” The book is co-authored by Martin Richards.
For many years, I was passionate about being a class teacher. It could be a wonderful job – especially when those children who were struggling, “got it” and that pride in themselves just shone from them. It was a great feeling to know that they had succeeded and were then motivated to continue learning.
However, I also know that it is one of the single most demanding jobs – and one which can be underestimated by many. Teaching can be great – it can also be challenging for lots of reasons. That’s why I am passionate about helping and supporting teachers worldwide and have written this book.
“Igniting a Passion for Learning in the Primary School” is all about enabling you, as primary practitioners, to use a coaching approach in your classrooms. This means using coaching skills in the classroom to facilitate within children, fundamental life skills such as resilience, communication, co-operation, taking responsibility and being aware of their own impact.
